Adventure Jeep

Peyton finds a friend!

We rented a jeep for the day on Saturday, and explored a bit more of Great Harbour Cay. Our adventure jeep was awesome! Stick drive, no backseat seat belts, no power steering, springs poking up through the seats everywhere…reminded Andy and Robin of cars we had when we were learning to drive. The girls thought the jeep was a blast. Oddly enough, the rental choice from Happy People was the jeep ($40/day) or a golf cart ($60/day). We’re still trying to figure that one out.

We drove north a few miles to Sugar Beach and played at the caves. It was high tide, and a bit choppy, so we stayed on the beach. Gorgeous view!

After that, we drove a few miles south to Shark Creek. We brought all our snorkel gear, but with the choppy and windy conditions we decided to skip the snorkeling and make a snowman instead. Shark Creek isn’t really a fresh water creek, more of an inlet. Apparently a 20 foot hammerhead used to live in the inlet, giving it the name. The shark was tagged, but hasn’t been seen for years.

Merry Christmas!

We met a nice cruising family (Mirage) with a seven-year old boy, and the girls had fun hanging out, until they left on Sunday. Perhaps we’ll catch up again down the way.
